My PB might have come from the supermarket, but I have a kitchen cabinet full of Amish Jelly. (it is so good).  Very close to what mom used to make.  This spring, we plan for her to help me learn to make it right.

Ran out of homade strawberry and blackberry preserves a short while back, guess i'll have to resort to Smukers.

Homemade just spreads so much better even directly out of the refrigerator.

My wife works at the service desk at our local Walmart & hates it when the weather forecast says "snow or storm". She says you'd be surprised at how many people actually bring back a lot of milk, bread, eggs, ect for a refund a few days afterwards that don't get used. :down:

What is the return reason on milk that isn't expired?    Don't get me wrong, I believe people do that.

Accepting food stuff as returns is a HUGE liabity. No clue if it was stored properly or if something else happened to it. People seem to forget about the rash of poisonings a in the 80's.

I am sort of surprised Wallies takes back food items, just sort of though.  Their vendors suffer the loss most likely .

 

I kept telling customers tonight that we were getting six to eight inches starting around 2 am.  We aren't getting squat. 

 

I can't understand why people aren't prepared for a couple of days at home.    If we don't have bread and milk there is no one starving.

There was only one time I couldn't get out and on the road because of a winter storm in Middle Tennessee and that was because there was a big tree fallen over my driveway, 1994 ice storm. I have never rushed out to the store because of a little snow threat, I throw a big slab rock I have in the back of my rear wheel drive truck and truck along if I really need something later.

We drove back from Lexington KY last night by way of London KY, what a freaking mess.

Eggs, we gots lots of eggs. From 30 chicken at this time of year we picked 12 today, we get 8 to 14 every day.

Cant wait for the longer warmer days for better production.

I tried raising chickens several times, we always had them growing up, but something lives around here that keeps stealing them, I've put up chicken wire, electric, and even penned them in a coop at night and somehow they still disappear so I gave up about 5 years ago.  Might be time to try again, my first memory of my Papaw is going out back of his house to kill a rooster for Mamaw to make dumplins out of. good times
