Creepin'

Gloomy Republicans are happy to get whatever slice of good news they can, and once again Joe Biden is the bearer of gifts.

"It should go to middle-class people," Biden said yesterday in Pennsylvania of Obama's tax cut plan. "People making under $150,000 a year."

Oops.

Obama has repeatedly said it would be those making under $250,000 who would get relief.

Perhaps just a verbal slip-up, but it plays into the GOP claim that the Democrat's tax hike will inevitably "creep down."

McCain, speaking in Hershey, PA, today, jumped on Biden's statement, according to Lisa Lerer.

"Senator Obama has made a lot of promises," McCain said. "First he said people making less than $250,000 would benefit from his plan, then this weekend he announced in an ad that if you're a family making less than $200,000, you'll benefit — but yesterday, right here in Pennsylvania, Sen. Biden said tax relief should only go to "middle-class people — people making under $150,000 a year." You getting an idea of what’s on their mind. A little sneak peek. It's interesting how their definition of rich has a way of creeping down.

UPDATE: Obama's campaign responds, sort of, to McCain's attack, reiterating that their plan is to cut taxes for those making under $250K and ignoring Biden's reference to $150K.

Sayeth Tommy Vietor:

"As Obama and Biden have always said, under their plan no family making less than $250,000 will see their taxes increase one cent. And if your family makes less than $200,000 — as 95 percent of workers and their families do — you’ll get a tax cut."

Always gets me how politicians calling someone on their words/actions is an "attack".

Rich is always going to be someone that has more money than you do. This is how class envy works. The average income in TN is a lot lower than in NY., but the cost of living is also less in TN. It is totally ignorant to say someone making $100,000.00 in NY is better off than someone in TN making $50,000.00. However you all know them Yankees are rich!:tinfoil:

87.3% of Americans are rich, compared to the rest of the world, and that is only when you use the "American poverty level." to define poor. I'd surmise the percentage is much higher if you were to use a Global poverty level.

Apparently you're rich if you aren't complaining about how somebody has more than you, and you want it taken away from them to be given to you.

Complain about someone who has more money and is successful no. Trying to match their success YES. This was the country where you could do that. Under Obama ???

Got this link off of this site, tngunowners. This is a good read.

It really does get back to jealousy and greed.

""They" have something that I do not. I deserve it as much as "they" do. Give it to me! I am voting for the guy that promises to give yours to me. Ha!"

Sickening.....good folks who take big risks to gain wealth and make their lives better get punished because the guy down the road see's what the results of his hard work and large risk are and grows jealous, envious, spiteful. Then he see's a way to "get back" at the man who took the risk, worked hard, and succeeded. It ain't right!!!

We have the freedom in this country to take risks and try to increase our wealth. I am a salesman for a agricultural cooperative. Big money? NO! I am happy and serving farmers in our state. I get a lot of satisfaction and am fairly good at my job. Taking big risks to succeed is not in my current psycological make-up. Although I believe I could be successful at most anything I choose. I choose not to. There are folks who will never be rich. Probably like me. Why should I want to take something that the owner of a large construction company or a brain surgeon has that I do not? I didn't earn it. I am envious like anyone else at times. But the end result of my envy is "I need to save up, find a way to get the money, something, to own that guncarfarmtruckhouse..."
