Teaching my wife to shoot.

I have been married to the same wonderful woman for 25 yrs now, we were high school sweethearts, and got married at 18. Right after we were married (when I was still in the I AM THE MAN stage) I decided to take my wife out in the woods and teach her how to shoot my .22 rifle. She just smiles and agrees when I suggest it (witch should have been a clue) so I take her out there and set up a target on a tree, and go through the whole "how to aim, don't be afraid of it speech" then I hand her the rifle, and she proceeds to put 5 in the bullseye, then smiles and asks "is that how you do it". I was so surprised you could have knocked me over with a feather. My wife loves it when I tell this story!!!! She never did give me a straight answer on why she didn't just tell me she already knew how to shoot, but I expect it was a lesson on underestimating her witch doesn't happen anymore from me anyway lol.

Just a funny story I figured id share.

First time I tried 'teaching' my wife the proper way to shoot, we spent about 20 minutes with her trying to hit something while using the sights..  Finally she just lowered the .22 rifle to her hip and put a magazine into the bullseye, then handed it to me and told me she was DONE!

I've never tried telling her how to shoot again.

Heh.... my first thought when I read the thread title was ... "Get someone else to do it."  Apparently she already did.  :)

My wife started shooting when she was 5-6 years old.   When I was growing up I shot a little .22 at summer camp and that was it.  It wasn't until I was around 20-21 that I started buying guns and shooting on my own so she has been shooting much longer than I have.

Nancy grew up hunting with her dad and brother, she was just such a petite and prissy thing I never would have guessed it lol and she never mentioned it while we were dating GO FIGURE :yuck:

Worst thing I ever did. Now if my wife sees me looking at a pretty girl in the mall she just hands me an empty cartridge case and tells me that she'll give me the rest of it when we get home. The no touch no foul rule no longer applies. Hell, I'm 67, if I think about more than a couple of minutes I've got to go home and take a nap.

My wife is working on long guns. She grew up in HS shooting 30-30 with her redneck Boyfields. I can say this because I am a redneck too. She is comfortable with my model 94 Winchester with a scope. Last year I had some scope issues and took the scope off the 30-30 and she can't hit anything with irons. Last year I bought her a 22lr to practice with(hoarder). Cheaper than 30-30. Any suggestions...by the way she shoots lights out with a small frame .380 inside 50 feet. Of course, I can't teach her anything, just make suggestions.
