As you may know, the National Rifle Association is holding it's annual national Meetings & Exhibits this year -- for the first time ever -- in Nashville.  The meeting occurs between April 10th and 12th at the new Music City Center in the heart of downtown.  For many TGO members, this is your home state, if not your back yard!

So my question to you is, who here plans to attend?

And if you do plan to attend -- who among you would be interested in having a TGO specific break-out session with some of the NRA leadership or personalities if I am able to arrange such for us?

We currently have 22, 300 members on TGO.  That's a large membership base and it seems that a large number of us also members of the NRA.  I would imagine that the NRA leadership would at least entertain the idea of meeting with a contingent from TGO if we can come up with a topic or list of topics that we would like to hear from them about.

Let's hear some ideas.  I'm already trying to make something happen.  I just need to get down to specifics.

Media bias - always hearing the bad and never the good.
Private business prohibit concealed carry - illegal to deny someone service even if it's against your religious beliefs but you can legally deny someone their constitutional right.

That second item could certainly result in an interesting conversation.

I definitely will go. My wife asked me if I was going as soon as she heard about it last year.

Actually said something about my being totally out of touch with her that week.

She could be right.

I put it in as a maybe because of work but I am for sure going to try to go. Plus I have a 6 passenger van and live like 5 minutes away. Can I say TGO carpool anyone. If I am sure that I am going to get the time off I will post it on here.

Just trying to get a leg up here. If you did this, what part of Nashville do you live in? Or really to early to get into details. lol Get a central location for parking and meeting.

Couldn't tell I'm excited about this could you? Edited by hipower

I think it would be a great idea.
They did have a annual meeting here in Nashville in 1993. I went to it, my first. It is a great experience if you have never been.

I just pre-registered!!! Go me and the misses badges coming. She probably won't go, but just in case.

I'm a little like the kid in the candy shop, can't wait.

Don't know whether to study the vendor map and try to plan who I want to see, or just walk in and see how far I get before the collapse and having to be carried out.

Maybe I better start walking more. My feet and legs are gonna get a workout that weekend! Edited by hipower

I plan to go.  Sawed-off heading to LLF's.  (he'll get it).

Look for the 7' height differential, and that's us.  (and I'll wear a hat, too)

A meeting with the NRA leadership would be great.

I'm definitely going! I'd love to go to the Foundation banquet that Thursday evening, but I won't go by myself.

Nonetheless, I'll be there either Fri and Sat or Fri and Sun. I'm really looking forward to it.

Hipower, my wife and I went to the one in Indy last year. I walked in with my map in hand. Once I got inside I forgot all about the map. Besides, you will have your hands full of freebies and you won't be able to keep up with the map.

LOLOLOL Yeah, been to a couple dozen trade shows and to Atlanta and Phoenix Merchandise Marts for years. I fully expect that to happen with the map.

But still excited! Heck! I may have to get me a backpack. I want one of everything!

Seriously though, I am looking forward to it. I'd hoped to go to last years, but illness knocked me out. I promise to not act like a kid...too much anyway.

I'm going, and would like to be included in any TGO/NRA meeting.  I'd be interested in their take on the political field both in TN and nationally for the next year or two.

If anyone needs the URL:

http://www.nraam.org/

Click the big blue Pre-Register button on the right. Registration will get you access to the exhibit hall. There are other events as well which require tickets (and $). You can see those from the "Special Events" option in the black menu bar on the page I linked.
