While cruising Bud's this morning, I saw that the CZ Kadet 22 Conversion Kits are in stock again. Priced at 414, if anybody is looking for one.

I'm tempted.

I've been eyeing one of these since they were $249, but never pulled the trigger. Even after I started reloading and was able to get the cost of 9mm down to an affordable price, it still seemed like a sensible investment in the long run. Now that .22 LR ammo is so hard to come by and is approaching the cost of my 9mm reloads, the only purpose I have for one is when I'm teaching someone to shoot.

Assuming I can reload a 9mm for 13 cents or buy a .22LR for 10 cents, I'd have to shoot nearly 14K rounds to break even on a Kadet Kit, but I still want one, LOL. It's just not much of a priority unless .22 lr goes down to around 6 or 7 cents and becomes more available in bulk.

I haven't got a CZ pistol yet. I did get a chance to get a 75 B SA all sweaty and fingerprinted a week or two back though, really sweet piece. I get why you all are so attached to them, it was a gorgeous pistol and felt like a natural pointer to me. If I didn't have a few too many things brewing as is I would be sorely tempted to snag it up.

Comparing costs per round these days, and the cost of the Kadet, it is hard for it to make good sense. But the Kadet's rep as one of the best 22 conversions around sure has a pull for many of us.

As much as I'd like one I just have a real hard time justifying paying $400 or more for one.

And Garufa has another good point, 400 plus now puts in tint the range of some precision target kits. I was balking at the cost of the AA kits for my Glock long before they hit the 300 mark.

I finally did pick up one from G&L in Hendersonville during a sale.

So between the AA for Glock, all the Ruger 22 pistols and rifles...it gets real hard to think about getting another conversion unit.

Continuing from previous post on the subject, Tricky hits the bullseye on this. The CZ 75/85 series of pistols are just so darn nice to shoot, it just is almost a crime not to have a 22 conversion for them.

I have shot a 75 with the 22 upper and it was truly amazing.

But it's still darn near the cost of another gun.
