Feeding angle issue? AICS 10rd SA mag

Recommended Posts

Hoping I can get some help here.

I bought two new AICS 308 mags from Midway (1 five rounder, 1 ten rounder).  I haven't even shot my rifle using them yet and have already noticed an issue; the angle of the round sitting in the mags.

Hopefully the picture will tell the story.  When cycling dummy rounds there is a noticeable difference:  the rounds out of the ten round mag scrape against the feeding range while the rounds out of the five round mag feed smoothly.  (mags are fully seated in the rifle using a KRG X-Ray chassis).

Has anyone experienced this issue?  Do I have a bad mag?

Thanks in advance!

The top round in the 10 rd mag is obviously sitting much lower than the top round in the 5 rd mag.  I'd look closely at the lips on the mags, perhaps nothing more than a little tweak is needed.  But before I did that, I'd function test them.  Maybe it matters, maybe not... one way to find out.

Yeah, I would grab a pair of plier and put some padding on it then squeeze each side to open the feed lips up some. Providing the feed lips do not hit the bolt I think it will be fine. There are a few other options, send it back and hope the next one is better or file the feed lips down/out some. I, personally, would have a hard time filing on a magazine that expensive though.
