Prayers needed for my daddy.

My daddy went into the hospital on Monday having trouble breathing, swallowing, etc. and after tests they found some spots on his lungs and a tumor on his esophagus. The results he received yesterday indicated that the spots on his lungs were cancerous. We haven't received results on the tumor yet but my guess is that it will be cancerous as well based on what I have read online. I also have not found any comforting info online when it comes to lung cancer and especially esophagus cancer.

I know many of you on here are praying men and women and would appreciate prayers for my daddy as well as my family. He nor I are very emotional people so I am having a tough time figuring out how to react to it and I can't read how he is doing over the phone ( he lives in north MS). I am praying for healing but I have come to realize that while we can pray specifically for things I have to realize that God is working something in this and it may not involve healing....and that can be tough to swallow.

I have never really talked to him about God and what he believes mainly from fear of not hearing what I want to hear. That is my main fear; that he will leave this world not knowing and having a relationship with Jesus. So please also pray that I can have that "in" to a conversation with him and that he will be open to at least talking about it.

It is still early in all of this though and no prognosis has been given so hopefully it is less severe than I believe. Thanks guys/gals.

I will pray for your father and you and your family.
May God have mercy on your father and give all of you strength and healing through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen

Prayers being sent for you and your dad and your family. Is there someone in you family that can tell you if he has been baptized? Learning that he was could give you some satisfaction knowing he does have some type of religious beliefs. Just a thought.

Prayers sent.

I lost my father not knowing where he stood with God. That was almost 11 years ago, and my heart aches over it to this day. I wish I'd have been able to talk to him about his faith before he left this world, but I myself was young in my salvation and the words just never came. I urge you to do everything you can to have that talk with your dad. Pray hard about it, go see your dad, and then let the Spirit guide you with the rest.

May God bless, comfort and strengthen you, your dad, and your family. In Jesus name, Amen.

You've got it!

Like PackinMama said, if you feel compelled to talk with him, don't spend the rest of your life in regret; do it.

Praying!

"He nor I are very emotional people so I am having a tough time figuring out how to react to it and I can't read how he is doing over the phone ( he lives in north MS). "

Should/could you go to MS for a visit? I know I would be very restless and in need of some time together in such a situation.

Oh yeah. I'm definitely going soon. Probably next weekend. Having the conversation won't be hard to do given the circumstances now. It's one of those things where I think "I've got plenty of time" to do so I never have.

I do not believe he has but I will definitely find out. Thanks for the suggestion.

I was lurking and saw the thread title so I logged on to see its contents.  I am glad I did...prayers already sent our way.  I pray that God will speak through you to your father.

Prayers for him and for you and the rest of the family.

My father had the same diagnosis in 1977, had a lung removed, and lived until 1991. And I am a cancer survivor myself.

It is not automatically a death sentence any longer. Have faith and pray. Edited by hipower

Praying for your Dad to get well soon, also for you and the family to get him through this.

Praying for your Dad's physical health, and even more importantly for his spiritual health.  I trust that the two of you will have time to talk openly about things soon.

I hope you and your dad get to have that conversation you so desperately want.  Prayers to both of you that the result of the conversation ends up positive and your dad gets the treatments he needs.

Prayers sent for your dad and your family. I pray that you have the opportunity to speak with your dad. This is the most important meeting you could ever have with your dad. Praying that God gives you the strength and the words.
