Off Duty Officer Accidentally Shoots Self

Recommended Posts

I see a few things that really helped make this happen...like trying to catch the gun when it was falling for instance. It sounds like he's going to be ok tho which is good news.

This area seemed like the best place to post this as he was off duty and carrying in (perhaps) similar manner as many non LEOs would.

Based on what I can tell (only watched the video twice) it seems like he unholstered his firearm and was attempting to move it into his jacket pocket when the accidental discharge occurred.

According to the news story I read the shot ricocheted off of the elevator door and struck him in the stomach. He was taken to the hospital and treated for non life threatening injuries, was released, and is making a full recovery (thank the Lord!).

Really? I've not stumbled across any others about this situation. If you can point me to them I will gladly delete and take the discussion over there.

Ah, I didn't think to look in the general discussion area as I thought it fit better in this (and perhaps 1 or 2 other) sections.

Cheers!
