How could a family, in good conscience, get rid of such history? :drama:

My wife wouldn't understand if I bought a rifle that costs more than her house.

I would settle for a copy of his book "Safari".

I could loose my marbles looking at these firearms!

If you scroll past his collection the mind boggling continues.
Cooke Army Revolver from Little Bighorn and a prototype Luger.

I would guess his wife hated him to be selling off his collection. He is probably rolling over in his grave............jmho

I would assume the will and/or the lawyers are requiring the sale. The only way to divide it up evenly is to sell it.

I'd hope the family got to pic a few first. If not, I'd say family who wants specific guns will have to buy them at the auction.

The man died over 30 years ago.  If he had any kids I imagine they need some retirement money, hell even grandkids might need something to live off of in their golden years at this point.

At this point guys it might not make any sense for any one relative to own these, nonetheless split amongst an entire family. In today's economy the remaining Keith's could be facing any number of financial situations that would warrant a sale. If no other reason, as hard as it may be to believe, collectables like this live in a bubble. While Mr. Kieth has fans of all walks and ages, the bottom line is his strongest fan base is currently reaching into their retirement years with money to spend and a healthy enough interest in his stuff to do so.

While these pieces will ALWAYS be sought after, the market for them likely won't get any stronger than it is right now barring a miraculous safe of the economy soon. I hope they bring top dollar and the former owners enjoy their new fortune and the new owners will at least let these pieces see the light of day for us pions to enjoy once in a while as well, if even from afar.
