Is it legal to ship a complete AR upper by USPS?I know you can ship UPS , but I figured USPS would be cheaper.Don't know if it's considered a firearm or parts.

Just parts, ship away. The serialized lower receiver is the firearm. Everything else is fine to ship without an FFL, I believe. Edited by musicman

Yeah I knew you didn't have to have a FFL involved for anything without a serial number.I just didn't know what USPS would call a upper , a firearm or gun parts.

USPS could not care less. They do not care to ship the entire AR, including the lower, so why would they care to ship just the upper. They ask if it is dangerous and just tell them it is not.

Ok,I just didn't know what their regulations was.I couldn't tell much about it on their website.
Thanks

I will say that at a ups store I was refused when trying to ship a barrel. Apparently the ups stores are privately owned and set their own policies seperate from ups. In other words they just sell shipping supplies and contract shipping through ups. Ended up having to go to the ups hub in cool springs.
