RIA has one of if not the best setups for ambi safeties. The sear pin is extra long with a slot for the safety edge to ride in.

I do not like ambi safeties either but if it has to have one this is the one to have.

Just to play devil's advocate...and maybe stir the pot a little...Were plastic mainspring housings available then? Perhaps it might have had one in that case.   Hmmm?

Does that mean you guys remove the external safety like he designed? Neener

 

 I'd sure liked to get my grip safety  pinned down like a lot of the older guys would do back in the old days :cool:

I'd like to, but I can't force myself to drill a hole in a 70 series Gold Cup.
