best hunting time of day charts

Anyone use them? Were you successful in harvesting a deer?

In all honesty I have killed most of my biggest deer and most deer between the hours of 10:30 am and 2:30 PM than any other part of the day. I think reason being that many hunters take a lunch break during those time periods and the deer hear or see the hunters leave the areas and once the hunters are gone the bigger deer will then get up from beds and feed until they hear the hunters beginning to return and then bed back down. That is just my observation and opinion but it made may mean nothing............jmho

I have killed almost all of my deer before 10:30am and after 2:30 pm, main reason being is because that is when I hunt the most.  I've always done most all of my hunting in Unit L, very few days occur that I enter the woods before daylight and don't kill something before 8am, or so.  Normally I will hang the morning deer up, and maybe skin and quarter depending on the weather and/or go take a nap then head back out around 3 pm.  Back when I bow hunted I would usually stay on stand all day from sun up to sundown.  I killed a nice 8 pointer one year right at noon and it was 84 degrees.  In my experience deer will bed down just after daylight and move again around lunchtime to get some food and water, then bed again until just before dark.  If I hunted somewhere where the deer were less plentiful I might look harder at the lunar tables.  I'm sure the lunar pull has some affect to wildlife activity.  Ask anyone who has worked in law enforcement if lunar activity affects the way people act.  Nothing in my opinion beats getting out in the woods preseason and patterning the deer.

I've got 90% of my deers from 0 dark 30 to 9:30.
I couldn't get motivated this morning to hunt so i looked up a chart it said deer movement was greatest 10:30-12:30 (rated 3 stars to) my son and i gave it a shot, seen nothing, went back out at 3 and seen 3 doe's right at 5pm, so much for that chart...lol

There are as many deer in the woods at 1pm as there is at 8am. I don't put a lot of stock in charts and what not. Get in the woods when you can and kill one. I think the guys/gals that are the most successful are the ones that scout and stay in the woods.

Yea, too many factors to solely rely on a chart.  If the area has few hunters, then maybe the chart may be right, but if there are enough hunters to push them then they can come at any time.  I hunt on a very small plot of land,  7+ acres, but there are 600 acres on two sides of me with hunt clubs.  I rely on them getting pushed toward me, or natural movement when no one is hunting on either side.  Most times, I have quite a few come by but this year has been real slow.  I seen a few, at least 3, one day, no shot, and two a few weeks ago which I dropped.  Been dry otherwise, chart or no chart.

For me, it's just one more piece of information. I look at them and maybe it convinces me to go to my stand earlier or later than originally planned. That's about all.

They can occasionally be helpful, but like others pointed out, it's just one factor to consider.
