Area Standards

You may have heard on the news about a Southern California man who was put under 72-hour psychiatric observation when it was found he owned 100 guns and allegedly had 100,000 rds. of ammunition stored in his home. The house also featured a secert escape tunnel.

By Southern Ca. standards, someone owning 100,00 rds. is considered "mentally unstable."

In Illinios he would be in jail or the Chicago Mayor's bodyguard.

In Michigan, he'd be called "the last white guy still livin in Detroit."

In Arizona, he'd be called "an avid gun collector."

In Arkansas, he'd be called "a novice gun collector."

In Utah, he'd be called"moderately well prepared," but they'd probably reserve judgement until they made sure that he had a corrreponding quanity of stored food.

In Kansas, he'd be "a guy down the road you would want for a friend."

In Montana, he'd be called "the neighborhood 'Go-To' guy."

In Alabama, he'd be called "a likely GOP gubernational candidate."

In Georgia, he'd be called " an eligible bachelor."

In North Carolina, Virginia, Mississippi, Tennessee, Kentucky, & South Carolina, he would be called "a deer hunting buddy."

And in Texas he'd just be " The neighbor Bubba who's a little short on ammo."

And if it's 22 LR he would be the wealthiest man in America

I am still sitting on my pile of .22.

afraid to shoot it as I can't replace it and I don't want to sell it as I can't replace it.

(not 100,000 by any means)

Seem like it's usually something a guy did or said that put him under evaluation, not the mere fact that he owned a lot of guns and ammo and had an escape plan. Nonetheless, it'd be typical of the media to seize any opportunity to associate "crazy" and "owning guns".

I'm hoping a case like this comes up one day and the gun owner is adjudicated as mentally sound and turns around and sues the living crap out of the gov't and wins. A big case worth say $100M would really cripple some budgets.
