Here is mine...

We had our Church's Congregational Skeet and Pistol shoot this past weekend. (Our total for the day were 43 people.) I act as one of the 4 range safety guys... so yeah, that means I usually don't get to shot any till late in the day.

After 3:00 a little over half had left and one of the other RSOs stabled a paying card to the edge of the table we were using for bowling pins. He wanted to see if anyone could shoot it in half. I was working the Bowling pin table so I went first.

You guessed it! First shot of the day, first round out of my pistol... shot the sucker clean into! :hyper: I couldn't believe it! I then told my wife we were going to Hobby Lobby to frame that sucker am I am officially retiring from shooting! LOL! (I was about 15 feet away, and yes I have witnesses!:no1:)

I'll be the first to admit it... a pure luck shot! Doubt I could ever do it again.

We had three other guys shoot cards in half after a few magazines of trying. But what really tickled me was my 11 year old wanted to try to do it. I set him up at about 5 yards away on another range and he did it on the third shot!! Wooo Hooo!!!

Any hoo, what was your best "Luck" shot?

I was 16 years old and was squirrel hunting with my trusty 16 ga. L.C. Smith double barrel. I saw two squirrels run out on a limb, and I slowly raised the gun and pulled the trigger. When I went over to see what I shot, there were 4 . . . yes, four, dead squirrels lying there! I guess they must have bunched up and the shot caught them all, but 4 squirrels in one shot!

Back in those days, the limit for squirrels in TN was 6. I went hunting at 6 AM, killed two by 6:30, killed 4 in one shot around 6:50.

Only time in my life I killed my limit in less than an hour!

We were shooting skeet in the desert, I had my buddy toss one up and as it was coming down and the mountain served as a backdrop I shot it.......

As a kid, screwing around at the range with a Jennings .22, a bunny comes hopping by the 75 yard marker...

...total luck.

Oh, I forgot another . . .

I was shooting skeet a few years ago, and after I yelled "Pull", shot at the clay pigeon, broke it, and a dove also fell . . . guess it happened by at the wrong time!

Not long ago a friend and I decided to shoot coke cans at 200 yards with his 10-22. I nailed one the first try using kentucky-elevation. After many more rounds of shooting, and bringing out a bench rest we realized that the rifle simply wasn't up to the task of accurately hitting a coke can at repeatedly, my first shot was just complete luck.

Had a squirrel on limb staring down at me. Thought, "Okay, if you're going to lay there and make it easy..." So I rested the .22 on a small limb and took my time, relaxing and paying attention to breathing (hard sights). Shot. It flipped and flopped and didn't fall. I was thinking, all that time and trouble... One last flop and it falls to the ground. On approach, the back of the skull was a bowl with half of a bottom jaw bone floating in an empty cavity. Looked at its face, one half of a front tooth gone... Got to love hollow points (and Remingtons).

A few years back a buddy of mine and i were shooting at the police range in Sewanee. We only had handguns and we were just firing off the last of our ammunition so we started taking bets on 'whos the better shot.'

Long story short. Plastic hotel room card key shot clean through, first shot, with a 1911 at 25 yards. I got a free 6 pack that day. Hasnt happened since.

My brother-in-law grabbed a wrench (13mm) and slung it at a possum as he was running out his kitchen door one night... there was a klang. Next morning the possum was dead! Got him right in the head.

To this day the inside joke is the best caliber for possum hunting is a 13mm. :D

I Was about 14. My brother & I were outside screwing around with a pump pellet gun & my dad had just hung a hummingbird feeder about a 3/4 acre back in our yard. I pumped the pellet gun about 15 times & said watch this. Bam right dead center of the Hummingbird feeder, it busted & the hummingbird juice went everywhere. My dad was so pissed. It was nothing more than pure luck but it sure made me feel like a good shot that day.

My brother and I both got compound bows a few years back for Christmas. After a few weeks of practice with it I was having a good day and had two arrows hit the target so that they were touching. My brother bet me I couldn't do it again, so I did it again, now three arrows are touching. He said I couldn't do it again, so I did, now four arrows on target, all touching each other.

He said I couldn't do it again. The fifth arrow hit one of the original arrows squarely on the nock and bounced directly back toward me so it landed right at my feet, pointing toward the target. When we went to investigate, we found that the nock on the arrow hit was actually forced down inside the arrow that was hit, not broken off to one side.

He didn't bet me that I couldn't do it again after that.

Long time ago I had a lever action 22lr and a squirrel ran out of a hollow long about 10 yards and I shot and killed it while holding my rifle at my hip. It was a crazy lucky shot.

Not a "shot" per-se, but the closest I've got ...

In my single days, used to meet a couple of friends after work a couple of nights a week for a few rounds of darts and beer before heading home. No plastic and electronic sissy stuff, these were the real thing. I was never consistently accurate, but on more than one occasion I would lodge a dart right into the center of the flight of one of my previous throws. I could never repeat it intentionally in a million years, but it happened when I least expected it.

Well there was this one time at band camp.........

While I was at a friend of mines house in Lynchburg, I shot a squirrel with my bow from the front porch while it played in the yard.

Another time 2 years ago during early goose season, I was with a friend hunting out of my boat. 5 geese were in front of us and my friend was in front of me. The idea was when he shot all 3 shots, I would lean out and shoot at any stragglers. Well using a 12ga he shot the first shot and knocked 2 geese down, fired the second shot and knocked another 1 down, finally he shot the third shot and knocked the last 2 down. I leaned out to shoot any stragglers but all I could do was look at all the geese laying on the water.....

The best I ever saw was this time my brother and I were at a guys house and there was a sparrow on the power line about 25 yards away. The guy says "bet you can't hit that bird from here"! My brother picked up a rock from the driveway and threw it. He hit that bird square and it fell stone dead to the ground......

Not a "shot" but a "dip"...

I was teen fishing with my dad miles below Watts Bar Dam in area where creek comes into the river.

He had a pound size stripe (white bass), long handled net was handy so for heck of it I reached out to net his fish, just as I got net to water level, BIG SPLASH, and I lift up his stripe and a very surprised 5ish lb largemouth!

I was more than a little surprised myself :P

We were good guy anglers, let the big ol boy go, since he wasn't legally caught...

Mine was when I was in boy scouts. We were fishing and there was a water moccasin in the water. I had my slingshot with me, and people were throwing rocks at it and no one was hitting it, so I thought I would give it a try, and first shot, the steel pellet went through the snakes head. It was pure luck, but it felt sooo good.
