Need a Computer Guru's help

I am having a real issue with my wordpad  and notebook. I have clicked and searched every way possible to get it to just copy just the original subject typed and save to my documents without all these junk symbols and word par added. I am posting a copy of what I get every time I try to save a message to my documents. Any help will be greatly appreciated. If you know how to fix this for me please send me a pm here.

My dog has fleas and a pot bellie and her name is Kasey    is the original typing but when I stored in it documents what is up above got put in there.

Are you saving it as an .rtf file instead of a .txt file?  If you save an rich text format file and then open it with wordpad it will show you the code, but try to open the same .rtf file with MS Word and it'll look normal.

Bersaguy, agree with wewoapsiak.

If you don't have MSWord, you can download and install a free version that does the same thing. Open Office or Libre Office. They are both 100% free.

Microsoft Word costs money.

yes that looks like rich text.  there is a drop down on wordpad to save it in several formats, form plain text (that is what notepad needs!) to word(sorta, its a simplified version) and more.

 

Rich text lets you do simple things like format the font in different areas of a document in different ways, like a title vs body text or something in italics or bold etc.   Plain text can't do that.  The extra junk you see is related to all that capability.
