This time it was an XD(M) 3.8" full-size 9mm with night sights.  I've been thinking about a new EDC gun for some time now and this one has been looking just right.  I wanted a full-size frame/grip with a somewhat short slide and no finger grooves.  The 19+1 capacity is tough to beat in pistol this size, and it looks like Springfield has a pretty good sale going on extra mags right now.

 

Any of you have much experience with this gun?  What are your thoughts on it?

Functional and reliable but a bit oversized for EDC form my perspective. Others opinions and experiences will vary. But in the end its all about the ergonomics and point ability of the handgun for the end user. Regardless, glad your happy with your new purchase.

I know what you mean about the size, but I'm a pretty big guy so it's not too much of an issue.  My regular EDC for many years has been a Glock 33.  I concealed a Glock 21 with a Galco King Tuk holster for a good while, and always enjoyed carrying a full-size gun.  The trouble with that was when the business end of the slide started wearing holes in my pants, probably from wearing it so much while driving.  That's why I opted for a full-size frame with the shorter barrel on this one.  And the 9mm is for affordability of practice ammo.  Either way, I'll try this one for a little bit and go another way if it doesn't work out.

My XDS 45 is the only striker fired gun I have that I shoot in the Bulls Eye and I have about 6 Glocks , the Glocks are about to hit the classifieds ....
