I found an awesome barbershop I'd like to recommend

... sigh ... oh for the days of the old fashioned barbershop. Barbers that had been in the same shop for years. Wood paneling with mounted fish on the walls. Barber chairs that were built like tanks. The magazines were 6 year old "Field & Streams". The old fellow over in the corner that could do a hell of a "Spit Shine" ... sigh ...

And cigarette smoke so thick you couldn't hardly see across the room.

You will have to deal with some hipsters (I was the only one in dirty work boots), but its well worth it.

If those didnt say Brooks Brothers they would be almost kinda cool. They look like the boots my Grandpa worked in in the 20's and 30's. That said, $398 to look like some souless hipster? Thats pocket change. They will go perfectly with my $400 skinny jeans, $150 plaid shirt, $300 canvas daypack and my hand forged $300 axe so that I can go cut wood like a real lumber jack.......

That actually started with loggers. My dads got a book that shows them logging out the PNW back in the early to mid 1900's and some guys have their jeans rolled up. It keeps you from tearing off the hems with caulked (spiked sole) boots. Now its just another trend for wanna be Lumbersexuals.

here in Oak Ridge, I used to go to Ken's Barber Shop. It had that old-timey feel of a real barber shop. They didn't take your name, you just looked at the other men and remembered who is before you. It had been there for ever.

 

The owner (not Ken) bought the barber shop over in Groves Center (behind the new Kroger), and the lady that I liked to cut my hair from Kens moved there, so I followed her. She said they were trying to build up clients at that location, so I obliged.

 

Just recently, they closed the Ken's location, and moved the Groves location to the end of the shopping center in a much larger store front, and combined the two shops. This new location is pretty cool. They have a pool table in there, and they bring out corn-hole on nice days. It's decorated with old fashioned tin plate signs advertising guns, ammo, tobacco and motor oil. They use mechanics tool chests for their work stations. They even have a station for a straight razor shave if you like. The haircut was great. Trimmed up the neck and sideburns with a straight razor, finished up with a wipe down from a cool towel soaked in alcohol, and a dusting of talc. All for $12.

 

If you are looking for a barber shop in Oak Ridge, with that old fashioned feel, I can recommend them. I think their name is simply "The Barber Shop".

Kinda sounds like what Sport Clips does, massage and stuff.
I use them once when I had a coupon for a free cut.
I was in there for 45mins and I don't care if she looked like a Barbie doll, thats too long for me.

I want a simple haircut, in and out in 15 if possible, with no small talk and no more than $10. out of pocket.

Ive been there. They do really good work. Joes barbershop in clinton is the same way, he does a great job for about $10. I always used him when I was in on leave and he did my razor fades.

Meh. I can get that at home without spending $10 lol. A barbershop/haircut is a chance to relax for me. I dont care if it takes 2 hours lol. But its jot for everyone, some guys like yourself don't have any desire for that.
