How To Transport Inside Park?

I like to fish the Mississippi River. The problem is that I have to drive through a park to get to the boat ramp.

How can I legally transport a sidearm through the park? Can I unload and leave it in the boat? Does it have to be locked away?

In order to be prosecuted for carrying in a park you'd have to be doing it with the intent to go armed. Keep the gun and the ammo separated and yeah have one, if not both, locked in some kind of container. Put them in separate parts of the boat. This will require some creativity but probably can be done.
