Joe Biden is his Impeachment Insurance policy for sure. I heard a person on NPR who (IIRC) is a US Rep (surely a Senator would have more sense than to say this on the radio) say the same thing. Impeachment is off the table because nobody on either side of the aisle wants crazy Uncle Joe in the oval office. Unless a deal was struck like in the Nixon resignation to allow someone other than the current Veep to step in, it's not going to happen. Especially now with just 2 years left.

They also lined the area around Air Farce 1 with heavy equipment, (something they did not do with Bush), and put snipers on the hanger roof and the roof of Dell. He must be real scared.

?? The current veep became prez when Nixon resigned. Incidentally, Ford was the only man to serve as both Veep and Prez who was never elected to either position.

I thought a deal was struck where Agnew would resign, the broadly acceptable Ford would be appointed VP, then Nixon would resign. I see now that, while that's what happened, the why and the timing is different.

I returned from Chicago yesterday about 4pm, drove by the plane on my way home but there was no heavy equipment. Maybe they had moved all of it. There were only two SUVs parked nearby, one near the nose, the other at the tail, and a few AF security guys around.
