Another WW2 vet lost.

I did not personally know this man but had met him a few times at Walmart.

I never got to know him beyond the smile,  hi, and thank you.

I wish I had got to know him.  I never new he was a vet.

Frank was one of the few survivors of the bloody WWII battle at Iwo Jima.

In my life, I have met 2 people that fought at Iwo Jima, one when I was so young 4-5 I really didn't understand until years later what he was talking about and Frank Lloyd Pryor that I never got to know.  I only learned about his past after he passed.

Just felt like sharing this.  (I found out this morning before work when I first went to Walmart and they had a memorial right at the door he normally worked at. ) I have to give it to Walmart that I feel they did a good thing to honor him.

Sadly many of our Greatest Generation Vets are dying rapidly. While I do refer to them as the Greatest Generation I am in no way talking down to our other Great Vets from Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm and our current Wars. Thanks for bring this to our attention, :usa:

As some of you know from my postings, I am currently in Florida caring for my father. He is a WWII vet and will be 89 on New Years. I am trying to piece together his service record while I can. His short term memory is gone but still sharp on the old days. He doesn't speak much on his service. What he has told me is, that he was in some of the first groups into the concentration camps at wars end. If anyone is interested I will post whatever else he can relate. He has a Bronze Star in his "Army Stuff" As he calls it. Not sure what exactly it's for yet. He says he was in the wrong place at the right time."........
