Just select a "random" Saturday.  Do tough gun control laws stop shootings? Let's see...

Illinois -          8 (7 in Chicago)

New York -     7

Florida -         7

Texas -          6

California -     6

New Jersey - 4

Connecticut - 3

Interesting.

What many of these anti-gun "projects" fail to mention are the number of weapons which were legally or illegally purchased and of course how many guns were used to prevent violent crime.

After taking in the whole page, reading the linked stories, opinions, and watching all the profile videos. . . That may be the first news coverage of firearms I've seen in the last decade that I considered reasonably balanced outside the very few and far between minor stories here and there. It's certainly the best I've seen from CNN in a long while.

Don't be fooled, that cherry picked date and stories to cover are a thinly veiled anti-gun theme. How many crimes were prevented by guns?, how many guns were legally purchased to commit a crime?, why has crime gone down? This could of been more of a question about how we as a society have become more violent, and how we as a society have become fed up with bad guys having their way so we are arming ourselves and preventing violent crimes. But no, they pick stories where most anyone can sympathize with the victims and where a weapon was used for evil purposes.

Did you actually read it all and watch the videos? They have as many positive stories as they do negative ones. Pretty well balanced honestly.

It's too bad they couldn't get past the first sentence without lying. Hell, they couldn't get four words in.

Tens of thousands of people die each year from gun violence in the United States.

In 2010, there were 11,078 murders committed with guns in the U.S. Hardly the "[t]ens of thousands" that CNN is portraying. You know, I'm honestly surprised that CNN got that wrong.

 Just kidding.
