I was at academy at 8am this morning in rivergate. They "said" they had none left.

I stopped by the Academy in Cool Springs this afternoon. Out of stock, with more supposedly coming on Monday. Ah well. I guess I'll just have to order a case from Ammoman and be done with it.

Based on what I've read, I do not think the "ban" applies to civilian contracts. From what I can gather, the ban only applies to Rosodboronexport. From Rosodboronexport's own website (and backed up by other research I've done), Rosodboronexport works only with "military and dual-purpose products, technologies and services."

Now, I am perfectly willing to be proven wrong on this (especially since I have no firsthand knowledge of any of this), but I've seen no change in the prices at Academy Sports on any caliber other than 7.62 on Monarch ammo. If what some of the people at Academy Sports are saying is true, logic would indicate that the price issue would not be limited to 7.62 ammo. Again, I'm no expert on this (and would love to know the truth on this), but since the sanctions signed in October of this year were an extension of a 2006 sanction, it seems things really shouldn't change simply because of an extension.

Not to be rude but panic buying as usual. This happens all the time. During the era of dirt cheap ammo everybody shot till their shoulders couldn't take it. U.N. started their usual won't export ammo crap, surplus stocks dried up, price of raw materials went up because of the China and India economic booms, ad nauseum. Kept hearing rumors of no more .308 ammo being imported ever again. Somehow though Lithuania, Australia, Germany, South Africa, Czech Republic, and Russia have all managed to bring in more of the mentioned ammo.

The American shooting community is a HUGE world market for ammunition. Very safe bet to say that it expends more ammuntion than most countries militaries do yearly. IF and I say IF this actually does happen two things will happen, the exporter will simply sell to another exporter and it will get sold to America anyway. Second thing that will happen is that if there is any lengthy lull in the delivery of ammunition several countries that produce the same types of ammunition (ansd some of those make superior ammunition to anything Russia can send out) will be tripping over themselves to fill the void in the market.

If they're not selling to us, their ammo is going to get delivered from the business end of a gun to our tropps. It already is to some extent and now they'll sell more of it to countries that we are in.
