Does my Glock 34 count as a long gun?  That's the longest one I defend the house with.  Everything else is in the safe.

http://www.galleryofguns.com/genie/default.aspx?item=50575  Mossberg 500 with Tri-rail with a SureFire light mounted to the right...  topped off with Winchester PDX1 12 gauge....      Or the S&W M&P15X with Eotech, filled with xm193....   just depends on what the threat is and if it's made it into the house yet or not....  Also depends if there's multiple threats, what their distance from me is, and if they have any kind of armor....

Sks with folded stock, red dot and 30 round mags that have put about 1000 rounds through it to make sure it works. Then a 12 gage to back it up

My practical 870 Tactical in it's new cool scabbard.

Not my first choice, but from a barricaded room with cover and a clear line to the locked door, it's probably the best choice.

Since I don't have kids and do not need to move to protect them, clearing my house at 2am is low on my list of things to do, take my stuff and go - I dare you to come upstairs.

During waking hours I have an alarm dog and if I am not armed, I have a handgun within arm's reach.

and I keep my doors locked.

I keep the beretta tactical 1301 loaded with 9 rounds of buckshot(one bad mama jama!!) and the mak90 with a slide fire and a drum magazine,  always a glock or 3 close by and ready to go!
