Is the Franklin show still scheduled for this weekend? I thought it might be cancelled due to traffic/bridge problem. Anyone going?

How dare they have it opening weekend of gun season ! Lol I would like to go, but will have to miss it, deer season will have to trump the browsing this time.

Heard a radio commercial today about it. The guy was really selling as the biggest and best show around. Major issues with traffic getting to the place with the bridge out. There is a recent thread on here somewhere.

I imagine there would be a big push on promoting this. I hear that vendors are about ready to bail. Might be the last chance for the Ag Center shows.

Although I don't usually go there, I hope not.

I wish them well.

I just left. Grabbed a couple good $10 ammo cans and some powder and bullets- wish David or Sam would have been there, but I needed to grab some. The ammo prices at the last Murfreesboro show were better, just from what I saw- no competition with online pricing, which is not surprising. It was ok- nothing shocking, but something to do for a little while.

With out David and his crew it is a no go for me.

Thanks for the update.

It was a decent show found some slugs at the same price as online. Also found two extended choke tubes for my Condor Outback that were half the online price. Saw  .22lr for as low as 4.9 cents per round.

Saw some deals on gun prices decent show depending on what you are looking for.

Did not find reloading supplies for 45-70 need some .458 405 grain or 300 grain bullets.

I met Hickock45 and his son John. They are both very tall

Yes. I'm 6'2". And I have to step back a few feet to not have to look up at Hickock like I'm eyeing a tall building to talk to him.

Went down there with a couple of friends yesterday, because one of them lamented on Friday that, "we haven't been to a gun show in forever."

You'd think that someone in middle Tennessee would manage to pull together a decent show, but this one is trending towards Bill Goodman status. It seems that most of the vendors didn't even want to be there.  I heard several of them voice similar.  I was surprised when we got there around 1:30 that there were several vendors already packing up.

With David not being "allowed on the dirt floor", the incumbent reloading guy seems to have established his monopoly status without really understanding market forces.  He had a pretty fair supply of powder, but his pricing ensured that he looked awfully lonely over there.  It seems David has an impact on a show even in his absence.

Do you think the online sales and ease of transfers are putting a hurt on shows in general? Like you said Mac, seems like a middle TN show should be popular. They used to be.

There are some folks on here who could probably offer a lot of insight, but I think it's probably a variety of things.  We've had a couple of polarizing personalities involved in the production of middle Tennessee shows for years.  I think a lot of good folks called it quits because they got tired of dealing with the promoters.  Online sales have certainly hit the gun show market - on both ends.  On one end, there are a lot of people who would rather go online than go into a local shop.  On the other end, there are probably a lot of dealers who would rather treat GunBroker as sort of an internet gun show and deal with folks online as opposed to spending their weekends in some fairground warehouse.

Add in a lack of community, a tchotchke/gun ratio of at least 2:1, parking fees and ammo profiteers and I see why people quit coming.

No.  That was commentary on the Bill Goodman's fairground shows.  Just lamenting shows in middle Tennessee in general.
