I will be taking my wife to NYC later this year to catch a Bob Segar concert, If any of you are familiar with the area I am looking for something within walking distance to Madison Square Gardens,

I would appreciate any advice on a good reasonable Hotel in that area :usa:

If you're going to New York, do it right.  There are some good brands around MSG, but they're also covered up in tourists.  The W New York in Midtown is my go to hotel in the city now that the old Barbizon is closed.  It's a 20 minute walk from the venue, but you won't be sorry you stayed there.  Make sure you take your wife to eat at Barbaresco as well.  64th and Lexington - some of the best homemade Italian you'll ever eat.

I guess that kind of blows the heck out of the dishwasher I got for my wife this year!

One night with Segar is awesome but the thought of you every night when she does the dishes is priceless!! Or is that backwards somehow :pleased:

Assume money is no object, be prepared to spend $200 per night on the cheap if you want within walking distance.  No recommendations.

I think Segar is probably one of if not the best of the old bands still performing but I would not go and pay the New York Prices to see him but to each his own...............  I hope you two have a wonderful trip.

But I like the Dish washer idea better than New York............................... :woohoo:

We stayed at the Hampton Inn north on 51st Street. Kinda far from MSG but it was right next to the subway and was nice. $200 a day plus about $50 for parking. We felt safe there and it pretty close to a lot of other attractions. I would definitely stay there again.

Not sure how long u plan on being in NYC, but i love staying in the upper west side at the lucerne hotel on 79th. Its a neighborhood area, within a 5 min walk to central park, Museum if natural history, lots of restaurants and Zabars! I then get around with taxis or subway (station right on the corner)

Be sure to get the uber app to get taxis - they are cheaper than the yellow cabs and much easier to get at busy times

I prefer some of the older NY hotels... I had a nice stay at the Roosevelt... just a couple  blocks off of Times Square.

I stayed at a hotel opposite MSG. I wasn't paying but I understand it was $$$ and the room was tiny. It was nice to get up from a nap and just wander over there for the show though.

I just visited a relative whose apartment was not much bigger than my hotel room.

If you are spending time in your hotel while in the "city that never sleeps" you have your prioriities upside down [emoji12]

Yeah, it was just a place to sleep and get freshened up.

The day I was due to fly back, weather grounded the planes. I ended up in a youth hostel in Chelsea which was pretty cool. I'd probably do that again if I was going alone.
