Recommendations for a thin semi-auto

I’m thinking about adding a new gun. What would be your suggestions with the following criteria?

1. Made by an American Company in America.

2. Thin for IWB carry.

3. At least .40S&W. I could maybe drop to a 9mm, but I really don’t want to.

4. Capacity is not a big issue. I don’t expect it to be 15 rounds but it should be at least 8 without an extended magazine.

5. Polymer, Steel, or Stainless frame. No Aluminum, Scandium or Unknownium.

I already have M&P Compact, J, K, and L Frame Smiths, Full size 1911.

Thanks

If you dont mind a German made frame (slides are made in the U.S. I believe) , check out the Sig P239 in .40 S&W. These were designed by Sig for Concealed Carry... I had one recently, one of the most accurate guns that I have ever had.

The 1911 is still one of the thinner real guns to carry and it comes in all calibers. Put a set of slim grips on it.

STI guns makes a couple compact officer size guns the Guardian 3.9inch slide 9mm/45, Escort 9mm/45 and the Rogue 9mm. The Rogue is an officer size with slide thinned a little. Officer grip is going to down your round count a little.

I like a commander with no extended mag well, single safety lever and slim grips. For staying i full size gun calibers.

Really not a lot of choices for over all slim guns except some pocket guns.

What he said.

+2...I've been meaning to track a kahr down and shoot it. I haven't yet, but they look well built.

I know you said American built but the bersa thunder line looks like a well constructed handgun and the price is right. A buddy of mine has one in .45. I dunno if i'd carry it until it had alot of rounds downrange...but his runs like a top.

I carry a P239 and love it. The only time I don't carry it is when I'm wearing shorts or I'm in a huge hurry and then I drop a J frame in my pocket. They are extremely accurate and well built guns. They are not cheap. I did run across a (very nice) used one priced at $525 at a local gun shop today.

Yeah, I ordered a Crossbreed holster because it was suppose to be “tuckableâ€.

Now don’t get me wrong the Crossbreed is a nice holster, but the M&P is thick as a brick. I started laughing when I tried to tuck a shirt in. smilielol5.gif

:hat:

I carry the Kahr in a galco IWB...I wear it with my running pants (Draw string) and jog with my daughter...no way I could do that with the M&P!!!

but, I do LOVE the M&P too...its my favorite!!

Hope the pics help..but really, they do no justice...pick one up, you wont put it down..LOL...

I am thinking the Kahr will be the best for the price, concealability, overall weight, comfort, and reliability.

the Kahr is very comfy...you will enjoy it.

BTW 6+1

extra mags are bout 40 bucks.

cw40 - bout 450.00. OTD.

It would in a shorter barrel, but it seems those have a lot of problems.

The EMP looks like it has great potential, but I would like to see how it does. That and waiting for the price to get down to where it should be.

I can tell you from experience, the EMP is both smaller and thinner than the M&P's..and the accuracy and dependability is awesome!

the price? well..you get what you pay for, imo. :D

A friend and I have taken his EMP out several times, and not a single issue to speak of. In total, we've put a good 3000-3500 flawless rounds through it.

Honestly, I can't tell you which ammo we were using, because he has about 10,000 rounds of various brands all mixed in some ammo cans. We just grab and load.
