COLT M4 CARBINE 22LR

Anyone ever had / fired one of these? Are they any good? What about CDNN sports? They have them for &299 but I don't know anything about them.

Never owned one but pretty sure I shot one once.  They're fine.  They only problem is the caliber....you can burn through some ammo FAST with a .22 lr AR.

I've got the colt .22 and it shoots great. 25 round mags burn through some ammo. Can plink clay pigeons sitting on the berm at 100 yards

My son has one. It is problem free and great fun to shoot. The barrel is actually a thin liner covered by a shroud that looks like an m4 barrel. The forward assist is for decoration only. They are sort of cheap made. If i had it to do over, I'd likely get a Smith and Wesson 15-22.

I really like the Smith and Wesson but at $500 it's not far from a regular ar in a larger caliber. I have held the S&W and the Mossberg but the Mossberg just feels cheap and out of balance in your hand. That is part of my concern with the Colt.

I will add that I don't mean that Mossbergs ARE cheap, just that it felt that way.

The Colt feels cheap too.

 

If you already have an AR buy a dedicated upper, they can be had for around the same price as the Colt and you end up with a much nicer setup.

 

Anotehr big problem is most parts will not interchange so you may not be able to swap parts to build it the way you want it.

It is actually an Umerex with Colt stamped on it. Sort of like all the made in China Winchester stuff at WalMart.

 

I'm not trying to discourage you. As I said, my son's rifle shoots great and is reliable. I just want you to know what you are getting into ahead of time. I didn't.

$500 No sir. I know Bud's has them for $392 without the threaded barrel. I'm a proponent of the 15-22. I own one, and I use it often. Manual of arms is the exact same as your real deal AR. Yes it's polymer, so if that is your deciding factor I suggest take Dolomite's advice above.

I can't tell you how much and how many times I've ordered from CDNN. Never had a problem with them. Pistols, mags, and other accessories. All Good.

CDNN is good to go. Heck, it wouldn't hurt to ask your local dealer what he can get one for. He may be able to get one for less money once you factor in what he charges for a transfer. Can't hurt to ask.

First gun I ever purchased from CDNN was a Thompson Submachinegun back in 1987. Over the years I've bought dozens of guns and cases of ammo from them. Only time I was ever disappointed was with some Sig 228 magazines that I did not think looked new. Called them and they had me return them and promptly refunded my money. CDNN is a top notch outfit.

My experience has shown CDNN will grade conservative on used guns (police trade-ins) if they say "very good to excellent" they have been. Your mileage may vary but I have had very good experiences buying from them
