Was I out of the country when we decided to steamroll Thanksgiving in favor of an extended Xmas season?  It seems to be earlier and earlier each year.  I was buying Halloween candy at a CVS on Oct 31st this year and saw they already had the Xmas decoration isle ready.

My sister in law put her Christmas tree up last night.
Wife wants our up already, I said no way. Earliest I am messing with that is first weekend in December, and that is only for because of the wife and kid.

When I was stationed in SanDiego, we did a Christmas in July every year. It was volunteer work but it was a good way to inject happy times in the middle of the year.

Its all about the money, as usual. Made a very rare trip to the mall today and all I can say is WOW. Looked like black friday crowds. Advertising companies have an easy job these days. They announced last week the whole month of November was black friday.

Face it, Thanksgiving has officially been given THE BIRD :)

Heheh.  My family always treated Thanksgiving as the start of the Christmas season.  The cold weather and having a 9-month old girl in the house who is fascinated by the Christmas stuff we see in stores [already] make my heart grow two-sizes bigger a bit earlier than normal.  :D
