After viewing the initial picture I suspected some frame and slide modifications had taken place and it was obvious the grip was less bulky.

It's still got that humpbacked slide but its predecessor handles better than it looks and the compact variant in model offered high capacity magazine optionality.

I'll still keep this new prospect in the "maybe" category until its been out for a bit and I've had an opportunity to shoot one.

That's the highest bore axis I recall seeing on a handgun.

SIG P-Series?

I hate that "grip zone" written on the grip. What were they thinking? :meh:

Yup, gayer than AIDS.  That alone would be a deal breaker for me, might as well say "ribbed for my pleasure" as long as you're gonna put pointless text on the grip.

Grip zone? Is this a NERF gun?

Most concise statement of the month

WOAD the "Grip Zone" imprints will quickly disappear from production gun's. But it still won't look as nice as a BHP or Colt GM.

SIG P-Series?

I think that big boxy trigger guard and oversized grip gives the P's an illusion of being more proportional than it is. After looking more closely at some pics, they're about as top-heavy as this thing.

I still didn't think anything could make a Hi-Point look sleek.

Got a couple in this evening. The grip zone thing is pretty dumb, but it does feel pretty decent. An improvement, at least.

Oh God. It's worse than I thought. From Springfield's website:

"Every time you pick up an XD® Mod.2™ pistol, you’ll enter the GripZone™."

Man, I hope they didn't really trademark that.

Grip Zone really sounds like they're marketing basketballs to school kids.

This isn't a toy, so why are they marketing it with cheesy crap written on the grip like its being sold at a local Wal-Mart toy department in da the hood?

Did Springfield Armory just copy Highpoint?

Since they didn’t design or manufacture it, and are only the importer; I’m thinking... no.

......I'm glad they decided to print "GRIP ZONE" prominently on there. Otherwise I'd have had no idea what to do with that part of the gun.

They need to add "THIS END TOWARD TARGET" on the barrel.

Don't knock Springfield for the "Grip Zone" thing, they're just trying to take back some of the Glock market share from owners that fell for their gimmicks and marketing :)
