Font change and disappearing post

I've had this issue a few times and only on this forum. Using an Apple desktop.

 

I will quote someone, as I begin to type my font is different and I'm unable to change it. I also cannot make a new paragraph.

Then when I reply my post is blank. I noticed on tapatalk that my blank post will have "no content available" instead of being blank when I'm on my desktop. I haven't had this problem on tapatalk.

IF I edit that blank post I sometimes can change it and sometimes not, the reason for some blank posts of mine. 

 

Doesn't happen all the time and looks like there is nothing that I'm doing that would make difference.

The only issue I've had with my desktop recently has been a dropping wifi connection and the dreaded pinwheel.

 

Intend to upgrade my current router and modem with one newer than 10yrs old but have no idea IF that could cause this issue.

I'd hazard a guess that it's your computer/software causing the problem.

I had Apple support online today and we did a few things to help some other issue I've been having.

 

Unfortunately this quoting quirk baffled the Apple Tech and thinks the admins could help resolve.

Hmmm.  I use a Linux desktop, a Win 7 laptop, a Win 8 laptop and an android tablet, using both Firefox and Chrome browsers,  to access this forum and I don't have your "quoting" problem on any of them.  Have you tried another browser or another computer/tablet/phone to see if the problem follows you?

The only other device I've used is my iPod Touch, as I am here and as you can see, no problem with a quote.

Removed Norton Security from my Apple.

Norton strikes again, huh?  I've experienced and heard of so many weird problems with Norton that I'd rather install a known virus.  Was Norton your anti-virus software?  If so, what other options do you have with Apple?

MacKeeper. It's pretty much a do everything program: Antivirus, backup, etc. It can be a resource hog at times, though.

BTDT, MacKeeper was a thorn in my side awhile back, cleaned that off after advice for another AppleTech.

Yes, this was recommend and free through Comcast, my provider.  :wall: 

 

I've learned a lot in the past few days and got most of my advice from online Apple Support Communities. Super-group for good advice and this below is from that site;

 

Some anti-virus solutions can slow down your Mac, but to be honest, the best anit-virus app is you, the user and your brain.

 

Don't visit questionable websites or website you are unsure about.

Don't use Torrents or engage in "Torrenting"

Don't install pirated software or software downloaded from a questionable or unknown websites or untrutsted sources.

Java is still a vulnerability concern,  if you do not need it, don't use it.

Use a browser filter and pop-up blocker

Don't open email attachments from email addresses that you do not recognize.

Install security updates when they become available

Educate yourself as to what threats are common and active.

In effect, use your own brain as the antivirus filter.

Follow that advise and in MOST cases, you will be fine and won't risk your Mac to potential Trojans, malware or viruses.
