I guess the goose was going ballistic then the dog starting barking at the back door. Afterwards she went on a little backyard safari seems there was a skunk stumbling around spraying everywhere. Looks like the score ended up Henry 1 skunk 0. Funny because she thought it was silly to buy a Henry in a 22lr she never really shot it before today. I always told her you cant go wrong with a good 22lr. She was going on about how smooth it was and how nice the bullseye peep sight was( the sights were an add on you know the kind if that's what you want purchase) Funny that she went for the Henry even funnier now she wants one of her own. Looks like we will be. Making a trip to Greenbrier soon.

22lr will get the job done with small varmints. The 45 should take care of just about any varmint even two legged ones. Love the build.

Good thing she didn’t let the dog out. My Doberman got skunked one night; it was terrible.

My friend asks why I didn’t shoot it; I told him the only rifle I had quick access to was .308. He said well, they won’t autopsy it. I said no, but my luck a cop would be driving by.

Now I have both a .22 and an air rifle on standby.

I also have two quarts of hydrogen peroxide, a big box of baking soda and Dawn dish washing liquid. biggrin.gif

She saw it thank goodness. The last time Buster tangled with a skunk back in Indiana in the middle of the night needless to say he spent the night out side after that. Seemed like you could still smell it a week later despite the dawn tomato juice and the no skunk smell shampoo from Pets mart. Guessing it must have been sick because she said it was walking right towards her and walking sideways.

When a skunk comes in my yard, my first thought is typically about rabies. I keep my dogs away until it wanders off or gets chased off by a 300 fps BB.

edit: ...not to mention the stink
