Not sure about the generic gift idea, some of the guys last year spent some serious time digging through really old posts on the forum to see what the person could specifically use/needs. That made for some very interesting gifts :)

That's ideal and is in agreement with the guidelines of putting some real thought into the gift, assuming of course that the person buying the gift knows the forum name of the recipient. I was given a name and address last year but don't recall receiving a forum name with it, so I was unable to do so. But if you know the person or can research their needs, it's great.

I think the deadline is usually before Christmas but it's "soft" as well. I'll let Metalhead set the specifics but that's how it's been in the past.

Last year I think he matched everyone up around the first part of December, as for a deadline to ship the stuff I don't think there was one
