Death knell for 22 ammo speculators?

I still haven't picked up a decent pellet rifle, which would just about put any .22LR angst I have to bed.

Sold off the .22 rifle and all of the ammo I had for what I had in them pre Sandy Hook madness. No interest to make money on the deal.

Bought a pellet rifle and haven`t been to the range in I don`t know how long. Neighbors haven`t complained & I have had a bunch of fun over the summer in my backyard. Only things complaining are the varmints. They don`t like it.

There are a lot of people who won't want to get caught short again. This will drive demand for a good while. People who were happy with picking up a box here or there won't be happy without a few tens of thousands of rounds stashed away.

That's my plan. I went nuts with the driving and searching right after Sandy Hook and finally gave up. I was spending more on fuel and wasting more time than it was worth.

 

I've bought here and there when I find fair pricing, but no longer go out of my way searching.

I haven't really been shopping for .22, I only checked out Walmart and The Sportsman Store in Dickson for some the other week and they were out, also i'm not going to pay some ridiculas price for any. I may have close to 400 rounds now, it would be nice to shoot the heck out of my 10/22 but I'm sitting on what i've got for a while. That's as far as i'll go in the .22 panic era, just not shoot up all I have. I'm at least hoping that .22 supply and price will normalize soon, i'm sure the price will never be at amounts 2 years ago but I hope they can be at least reasonable, cheaper than any other ammo by far.

Got .22 stached away, but I'd like to shoot more often and obtain replacements.

I have four bricks, one 550 and one 400, the other two I think are only 200, maybe 300 and a couple of 50 count boxes thrown in.  If I find a brick for decent, non-inflated price I get it, but not going out of my way for it.  I already had two bricks before the shortage, the other two I happened upon, the last one at the opening of Cabelas in Bowling Green,  so I never really felt the shortage.  When I did see that it was hard to come by, I switched to 5.56 for target practice which I reload so again, no pressure to get my hands on it.  Now when I started with my 300Blk, I did have to search for powder, and when I found it I paid above retail by at least $10 but I only bought one.  After that, I just waited until MidSouth got some in for my backorder.  Until it gets back to normal, I will continue to use my .22 for squirrel and critters and my 5.56 for plinking.
