Let's say I ordered a Brace and installed it on my AR pistol what printouts would be handy to put in the pistol grip compartment other than the one sig sent to have on hand incase I am questioned about improper usage?

Would I be out of line to write the ATF for a personal letter on the components and usage? Edited by Tobashadow

There's only the other one that it's also not unlawful to "misuse" it:

Though I carry nothing in the buttstock,  the provided letter should suffice.   You can write the ATF for a personal response but IMHO it is a waste of everyone's time to do so since this has been rehashed quite often.

Unless they've changed something, the brace will ship with a copy of the letter you need

The letter that comes with it only says it's a brace it doesn't cover improper usage. Edited by Tobashadow

I carry two letters, one says the brace does not change the classification of the weapon it is installed on and the other is letter above.

Hopefully between the two I should not get hassled too hard by LE. But I also know of a TWRA range in Knoxville that tells people it is illegal to shoulder a pistol with the Sig brace installed.

But I will also say the majority of LE are ignorant of weapon laws and especially ignorant of NFA laws.

That's what I get for posting after I have a few drinks in me. You're correct, and I carry a copy of both letters with me as well, don't know what I was thinking. I even had someone in my office laminate them for me ;)
