Going to be a cold one! The frost is already starting to settle on my truck as I look out on my late lunch break. Going to be a long day. I get off at midnight. Try to sleep. Wake-up hit the woods before daylight. Come out at noonish. Go back to work at 2pm and try to stay awake the rest of the day. But its worth it. My true weekend is on Monday and Tuesday and I'll have the whole mountain to myself. Edited by TacoBubba

I woke up and looked over to see it was 6:00. Crap! Got to stand and hour and a half late. Sat here 10 min and here comes a young 7pointer chasing a doe. It makes no sense but I'll take it. I let him go. Now hopefully his older uncle comes by. Edited by Hozzie

Half way to the stand this morning I realized I forgot to put my hunting boots on and I was wearing my Merrill shoes. I continued to the stand. I get to the stand and realise that I had forgotten my powder measure back at the truck, so basically I have one shot. At 630 a nice for gives me an easy broad side shot at 75 yards that I manage to cleanly miss. I go back to the truck, reload, put my boots on and head back out. By the way I jumped a nice buck and a doe on the way back go the truck. Get set up again and about 15 minutes later an ugly spike I'd coming in from right about 250 yards away. I set up for a left hand shot and let him close the gap to 20 yards. I fire at him straight on, the primer doesn't pop. I cock it and it goes boom this time. The deer humps up and runs into a duck impoundment right behind me, I'm thinking "crap" then he jumps back out and staggers back to where he came from and crashed out about 300 yards away. First muzzle loader kill and I have my first deer of the season to start stocking the freezer. I'm happy!

The Savage smokeless claimed two more this morning. Shot the spike and drug it to the 4 wheeler trail. Propped up on the bank to rest and 3 does come walking down the 4 wheeler trail. Only 2 got to leave.

Had to shoot both left handed, which was something Ive never practiced before.

Got another right before dark, I'll call that a good day! Plenty of work to do in the morning. Thinking about skipping hunting in the morning and working up these deer. For now I'm about to enjoy some fried tenderloins!

After killing 2 deer on Saturday I almost decided to take off Sunday but decided to go. About 730 a 4 point comes out the ridge to about 30 while I managed to drill the only branch around him with a 300gr XTP. He hung around like nothing happened till I got reloaded then wandered into the brush. About an hour later this six came down the same trail and gave me a shot at redemption.1109140828_zpsvxpkldbh.jpg

The three of us took 6 deer and saw around 40, was a great weekend to be in the woods. I got quite a few looks when I headed home from the lease.1109141142_zps0hffhg5q.jpg

Had this bobcat under me for a few minutes, very cool, never been that close to a live one.1107140737_zpsx8wknl6m.jpg

My boy was on cloud nine, already requested deer meat tacos for supper one night this week.1109141948a_zpsbyqdik7y.jpg
