I had the opportunity to shoot a Browning 45-70 black powder rifle this last week. Needless to say I got hooked on it. I was wondering if others have any experience with this round and offer up some advice and recommendations on a beginner's set up and type of rifle to start off with. I know some rifles can get costly. Thanks in advance.

One of my all time favorites!
I have a Marlin 1895 & a Uberti copy of a Winchester 1885 high wall.

The .45-70 is easy to reload for & can go from mild to wild.

The marlin can be had for around $650-800
The high wall for about 7.

I've got two 45-70's. A Marlin 1895SS, the long barrel one and a long barrel(30")  H&R Buffalo Classic. I load mostly mild loads as my old bones won't take the pounding of full power loads.
