IE with the google tool bar, pop blocker included, no problems.

I muted the sound on the computer. I think that may be my only option. I am not installing Google toolbars or some other browser onto a work PC.

Are you getting talking ads on this site??? If so, your computer already has spyware / adware on it and you need to get that addressed promptly. Some malware sees banner ads on sites like this one and overwrites those ads with their own. Some of their own can be pretty pornographic. One of our other members had that happen to them once before and asked me why we were letting those kinds of places advertise here.

For the record, we only allow people or companies that offer goods and services relevant to the firearms community to advertise. If you're seeing anything other than that, you have a problem.

It sounds like the new Hero Gear ad made it out before it was supposed to. Oops.

on the work PC i get a Walmart ad that talks and a Wii ad that talks.

I do not get it here at home. I guess it is the pop up blocker on this edition of IE

I was really suprised that you had a walmart ad on the site here. I will look into the work thing tomorrow if I get a chance, thank for the explanation

From THIS site? If so, you have general spyware prob.

I do not get it here at home. I guess it is the pop up blocker on this edition of IE

You can have spyware that is prevented from running, but if you have it, your box is taking an overall performance hit, at the least.

Spyware for sure if you're seeing Walmart ad while at TGO. And of course, it's not put there by WalMart, but by some clickthrough party shilling FOR WalMart for a few scheckels.

The effectiveness of the various free malware removers wax and wane, but SuperAntiSpyware.com, AdAware Free (http://www.lavasoft.de), and SpyBot S&D (www.safer-networking.org) remain three of the better freebies.

But of course, if you're not comfy installing FireFox or a browser plugin on company box, these might not be an option either.

Definitely spyware or a virus, +5 on spybot search and destroy, best thing since sliced bread or rather 4th best (I changed that number several times) to gun powder, especially once your machine is clean. Prevents anything from doing anything with out your consent.

OS thanks for the tips. The software on the work PC took care of the problem the other day when it did its weekly run. No more talking ads!! I did not even catch any grief over it. That in itself is a big +1.

Just think, this time next week we will have a new pesident elect. Down side is who it will be.
