Anyone process their own deer

If so, and if you don't use the feet, I could use some deer feet. I am working on a project and could really use some fresh deer feet.

How much leg do you want with them? Front, back, all? Does size matter?

 

I won't hunt until muzzleloader season, which begins the 8th of November. Surely, between the boys and myself, we can help accommodate you.

If I get a deer this season, they're all yours if you want to drive to Clarksville to pick them up.

The last ones I got were cut right under the scent gland thing.

Call Mike Flowers at Flowers Nursery and Deer processing in Nashville.  He processes almost 3,000 deer a year at his facility on Eaton's Creek Road in Nashville.  I think he composts the feet and bones.

That's where I take my deer, great folks. I didn't even think to mention calling them for extra feet. Good idea!

UncleJak, Most processers will give you the feet if you ask them. But, I'll save you some. When I ran my Taxidermy Shop, I used to make awful good money making things from deer feet.

I use the meat all the way down to where the legs kinda turns into lots of tendons which ranges around 8-12 inches from the hoofs. I cut cut it a little higher if you want. My wife and me like to go into the Nashville and Springfield area around 2 times a month to shop. I can freeze the feet and when I go through there I can bring them to meet you somewhere in the Springfield and Nashville area. Just post a picture of how your project turns out later :up:

I use to make gun racks out of the feet back when I was young and hunted a lot. My brother was still doing it right up until he passed away a few years back. My son and grandsons and several of our friends kept him in deer hoofs plus he would visit several small processors in the area. He would make about 80 to 100 gun racks a year and would custom  build some for folks. He did also make a few knives back many years ago but that got to be to much work getting the good steel so he quit making them.................. :up:  :up:
