My new TAVOR review.

Well I finally pulled the trigger and got FDE 16.5" Tavor. Speaking of triggers, this has to be the worse I have ever encountered. I have shot quite a few bullpups from my service history. This one is twice as bad as my MSAR even.

I have removed the extra spring and it still sucks.  It's sad that you would have to spend a extra $300-400 on a trigger pack at the price this rifle cost to begin with. I am not impressed with the fit and finish either.

It shoots not as well as my others due to trigger.  Need to let one of my Buds take it for a spin to make sure it is not me. Just not impressed right now.

Might have to cut this one loose.

That sucks man, I hope you didn't give too much for it. I've read nothing but good things about that weapon and pretty much all agree that the trigger is garbage. It's not meant though to be a precision weapon, it's a utilitarian rugged bullpup rifle built specifically to operate in the desert so one can expect that it would have a crap trigger from the get go. All that linkage makes for terrible pull, that being said the Tavor(TAR-21) is still as short, or in some cases shorter, as most SBR platforms yet retains a longer barrel so it can get maximum effectiveness with a basic 5.56 cartridge at closer ranges and not need specialty rounds(Mk262 mod0 and the like).

I don't think the trigger is that bad just HEAVY.  Not saying that is an excuse.  If there wasn't a replacement for it I could have lived with the factory trigger but since there is....

I have a ShootingSight Tav-D you are welcome to try out since my Tavor is at IWI having the left handed bolt put in.

One word: Geissele (http://geissele.com/super-sabra-trigger-tavor.html).

I couldn't measure my stock trigger pull with my digital gauge - maxed out. With the Geissele installed, it's about 5 1/2 pounds. Huge difference! Your welcome to give mine a try to see if it's worth the cash.

Yep. It sucks. It was extra effort just sighting in a red dot. I shot Willis's gun. He has since added a geissele trigger pack, and gave it rave reviews. i haven't yanked it myself, but am real familiar with Geissele's work. FWIW, I don't think the heavy trigger is a result of poor engineering. I think it was done with a "New York" trigger mentality. Anyway, the Geissele fixes it.

I'm in it all right. I have shot about every military issue bullpup there is with the exception of the IDF tavor and the new chi-com bullpup. LOL

This rifle has a truly crappy trigger.

BUBBA, we need to go shoot anyway. I,d love to give yours a try. Edited by R1100R

Gordon, I have already done this as stated in the OP.
It still sucks. I have polished and cleaned, lubricated it and it is a little better.
Off to the range today with a Eotech 516 on top to see if I even like this rifle any more. LOL

If you get the trigger fixed and decide you like the rifle.... There is a guy based in Murfreesboro TN that makes custom parts for them. His business is called Gear Head Works. I don't own a Tavor, but have seen some of his stuff and it's top notch. Just thought I would mention it.

Thanks, I know about him. He makes items for other bullpups also.

I think this is going to be sold. I don't like it as much as my others. I feel the Tavor is ok and has some nice features, but it does not work for me. Plus it is not as accurate as my others for me.

A coworker has a new FDE Tavor. The trigger pull is pretty bad.
When I was working at Barrett, the Israelis brought a Tavor there in hopes of getting it produced at Barrett. We fired it there on the indoor range. The copy they brought in didn't have that bad a trigger. Wonder what the difference is between the Israeli and US produced version.

I only use Pmags, i have never had an issue, these rifles are not for everybody but to me and for me mine is perfection

I agree. All that really matters is that it meets the owners expectation. I'm going to see one more time if this rifle grows on me. Got some different PMAGS from a Battle to see if the issue changes. Plus gave it a good cleaning and once over.

Tried out some PMAGS after a good cleaning and they worked flawless. I still prefer
my other bull pup over this one. I have been bitten by the black powder bug after
shooting a 1885 High Wall so this tavor will be sold to fund a new rifle. LOL
