Yes they are. I've heard some people say not to shoot 357's in them much because of the weak 1873 action.

I would think that if they produce a firearm made for a specific chambering, logic would dictate that it should cycle the ammo just fine being that it's a modern produced firearm. I'm more referring to commercial .357 and not so much handloads that'd make Dirty Harry jealous, haha.

I have shot both 38s and 357s with no problems. I also own a 1892 Rossi that doesn't want to chamber the shorter 38s.

I've got a Rossi 1892 and a Ranch Hand in 357, both of the chamber 38's good.
