Just to confirm, in TN we can carry as long of a fixed blade knife (or sword) as we want concealed now, correct?

Yes, but please don't push the issue. We JUST got this changed and don't need another Voldermort carrying a Katana downtown... Not saying you would, just a generality, no offense intended. ;)

Too late; my son is doing it already. I think that he watches too much SOA because he carries a huge knife on his side thinking that he's an undiscovered Jackson Teller or something. :(

No, because except for on school property, there is now no statute that prohibits carry of any type or length knife.

 

And there never was a 6" state limit even before, just making it up as he goes I guess.

State trooper is smoking something if that's what he wants to claim. What a nutter.

He probably couldn't recognize 6".  Those responsible for enforcing the laws, should be familiar with them.
