Gun Shop on Antioch pike broken into

Recommended Posts

Just saw it on the news. Really sucks, hope they didn't get much. I haven't been in there yet, but I have a storage unit right by there and have driven past it several times.

Really good reason for gun shops to have those concrete barrier poles in front of the store front - crash wall robberies are fairly common for gun shops from what I've seen. Couldn't imagine those costing too much.

^ Lucky you! :D

Thanks and I guess time does fly because it seems now I do remember it being talked about on the New as long as 15 years ago about the gang problem growing in Antioch and being pushed out of the inner city and into the suburbs and that Antioch seemed to be one of their choices. I know it forced La Vergne and Smyrna to add officers to both their police forces and I think things down in the Boro have gone down hill a lot also as it is in the news a lot more in recent years........................... :stunned: :stunned:

Where are our Memphis folks at?  Here's a great opportunity to pile on Nashville in a way that's usually reserved for our neighbors to the west.  And, in fact it is completely and totally deserved.  Whereas Memphis can claim several redeeming qualities, I can't think of a single one for Antioch.

Last person out of Antioch please turn out the lights.

I'd like to, but that would be tacky. You have good people and trash living side by side all over the country now. There is almost nowhere to hide anymore and still have all of the well paying jobs and amenities that we've become accustomed to having at our disposal.

That's the truth.  You'd be hard pressed to find a single place within Davidson county where you can't go a half mile in some direction and find yourself in a different place than you left.  That's the hazard of a big city, I guess.

Speaking of Memphis, how awesome is it that that beautiful city has played a part in the robbery? The truck used to break in was stolen from Memphis and driven here.

It makes no sense to me. 5 guys steal a $40-50k truck from 3 hours away and use it to steal... eleven guns worth less than $15k??? There's got to be so much more to what's going on here.

I had just visited that shop last week for the first time. I didn't make a purchase at the time, but the brothers who own/run it were very friendly and helpful and they had some great firearms in inventory. I wish them the best in recovery, repair, and future success. It's a place I will probably be buying from in the future.

Even this robbery outside of Nashville is connected to Memphis.  From News-2, some information about the truck used to open a hole in the store.

Authorities said the truck was reported missing Oct. 19 from a Memphis rail yard where it was waiting to be transported to an Arkansas dealership.

Irony; I saw at least 3 adds for their shop durning the local morning news on fox, during which they were covering the break in.

I think they need to consider 1) moving, and 2) a block front wall and security system

I've sold several houses in Antioch for people as a real estate agent. What still strikes me as funny is that the people who live there can't wait to sell and get out, and then there are buyers who can't wait to buy a house and move in!

I have a slightly different perspective on Antioch than some, I guess. I wouldn't want to move there now as compared to where I currently live. However, I grew up in N Miami, Fl and spent a lot of time in REALLY bad areas. I also lived on campus at Trevecca from 2001-2005 near Naiper, etc in s Nashville.

If I couldn't live where I do, I don't think Antioch is worse than where I came from in Miami (3 separate kills on my street, 5 dead total while I was there) nor do I feel most of Antioch is as seedy as the area just northwest of Trevecca's campus on Murfreesboro Rd.

It seems to me a middle ground, a step in the stairwell leading from the ghetto. It makes complete sense that some folks can't wait to get out to somewherez nicer, and others can't wait to move in, coming from what may be a turrble (read that in Charles Barkley's voice in your head) place.

Yep , I agree with everyone here about where our country has gone. It was about 5 years without going to Nashville until I had to go to Fairgrounds and meet Sam and pick up my 22lrs and I won't be going back again if I have to get off the interstate and just not drive through it. They have completely destroyed Down town Nashville............  I won't be going back. I have heard people say that it is very easy to drive down the wrong street down there now and find yourself on a dead end street that use to be a through street and the gangs are operating on most of the dead ends. I had to go to Extreme North Nashville near Metro Center and only get off the interstate for 2 blocks and I had two buddies go with me and if we would have got stopped by the police we would probably still be explaining why we had all the artillery and ammo in the Cadillac Escalaide  my buddy owns. We could have started a small war. We were in an out in 20 minutes and back on interstate coming back home. I have said I never wanted to move from here where I live but if Gallatin keeps growing and our crime rate begins to grown I will be moving east about 75 miles to Alexandria Tennessee. Get back out in the country next door to my Daughter and Son in Law. They have a father in law house ready and waiting for me.......................

I lived there so long ago that Antioch Pike was the main road in the area. Almost country in appearance. Small family owned stores and not too many folks.

Pity how it has turned out.

Haha! The way some of you folks talk about Antioch, I can't imagine what would happen if you were dropped in Compton, Liberty City, the Bronx, Detroit, south Boston, or some Chicago sewer. :-D
