Here are the most reliable 45's I know and have . They are tanks and work like a fine sewing machine. These are carry/working guns and get used everyday. No safe queens here !
Springfield Armory Mil-Spec
Glock Generation 2 21
Ruger P97DC

I've never had an issue with any of my 45's, but the one I have the most rounds through & shoot the best is my Beretta 8045 Cougar. Then there's my 8045 Mini Cougar & H&K USP 45. All have been 100% reliable.

I've only owned 4 .45:

Glock 21 most reliable

Glock 41 only 300 rounds shot

S&W SS 5" barrel 1911 although never jammed, the slide always felt gritty pulling it back after firing 100 + rounds (sold it)

Sig P220 I love sigs but I liked this one the least of all my .45's (sold it)

As far as the beauty contest:

S&W 1911 Best

Sig P220

G41

G21

Several years ago I bought a Springfield 1911 and had multiple feeding/extraction problems.  I sent it back to Springfield and still had the same problems.  Never could get a full magazine to feed properly.  Wound up selling it and have shot all Glock since.

FNP 45 and a Glock 30 SF. Both will eat anything I feed them. No failures ever from either. I enjoy shooting the FN best though.

If reliable means:  consistently good in quality or performance; able to be trusted, and most means greatest in amount or degree, then my only answer is my Sig P220 Carry and my Glock 21!  BTW those are my only 45s.  :pleased:

Best in a SA pistol was a Colt Series 70 Combat Commander some a**h*** stole from me. Worst a 9mm P Series 70 GM I foolishly had converted to .45ACP.

The Ruger P-series has to be one of the ugliest guns ever made.

That said, their reliability seems to be inversely proportional to their beauty.  I don't know that I've ever known anyone that's had one that has ever had a single problem.  They seem to run like tops.

Smith Model 25... Got two of 'em... Never any problems....

Ruger "200th year" Blackhawk 45ACP convertable... NEVER any problems...

All our colts from an old military to a  couple of series seventies... No problems with good magazines.... You will find that 95% plus of the 45 problems are due to bad magazines... Keep good ones... Fix any bad ones; or throw them away, no matter the name on them... Then go find some good ones....

Not a 25, but it's predecessor, the 1917.

Actually, I have a Colt and Rock Island as well, and neither has ever had a hiccup.

Got a Glock 21, Glock 30, Star Megastar, and Para 1911, and none of them FTF/FTE.
