M&P 22 Compact - thoughts??

I've got a Walther P22 DGFH model I'd part with.  It hits very hard at arms length and will knock an assailant out cold. Any farther than that you'd need to run like hell.... :rofl:

I'll join the chorus of those who like the Ruger MKs...   They are the best 22 for the dollars invested of any 22... We've got one that has had literally thousands of rounds shot thru it... They are a great thing, and they are an excellent training pistol for a "normal" sized pistol...

They are, indeed, a real "poor man's target 22"...

Ok, since we were talking about it, I got the little heifer... I mean cow... I mean, Taurus out of it's prison to see if it was still acting up. Yep. Here's a little video so you can see what I'm talking about. Yea, yea... not supposed to dry fire a 22, I know. Whatever. I half expect the thing to fall apart anyway with how poorly it's built!

I'd bet even money there's some spring out of spec that's the cause of all that. Might be quicker and easier to take it to A local smith, and while it might not be cheaper, it might still be pretty cheap.

You couldn't give me a Taurus PT22, mine had the frame split down the middle.  HoweverI have shot hundreds of rounds throught Poly version using Yelllow Jackets, Hper Velocity Aguillas and probably a brick of 60 grain Auilla SSS rounds.  The problem with the poly is that it is comfortable, meaning quite fat in the grip.  I have owned two Berretta Bobcats in .22LR and they were both semi unreliable.  Download them 1 round and they seemed in memory to work fine, but they two are fat little guns.  Ditto the comment on "I would buy a Keltec P32 sized .22LR ina minute."  Trouble is the closest thing to that is the Jimenez/Jennings JA 22. There simply is no reliable really small .22LR semi auto.

Preferably without the extractor spring problems  of the J-22.

I have heard nothing but good about the Ruger SR-22. But I prefer revolvers, heaven help me, and a Single-Ten or even a gently used Bearcat would suit me fine.

I am "hearing you" on the extractor issue on the Jennings.  I have a J22 and it is about to get tossed into the Cumberland.
