Ruger LC9s range report.

What a difference a trigger makes. Although my old LC9 hammer fired was 100% reliable, the trigger was just too long and the reset was....too long.  I tried the new LC9s (striker fired) at my local gun shop and bought it. I took it to the range today and I must say the trigger is better than my Glock 19. It is smooth and the reset is short. This is the pistol that Ruger should have made in the first place.

I ran 100 rounds of WWB through it and 14 rounds of Federal +P JHPs with no issues.  The sights are good and the accuracy, at 21 feet, was spot on. The things I do not like about the pistol do not have anything to do with it's effectiveness as a small concealed carry pistol but I will mention them. 1) Magazine disconnect (don't like'em) 2) The orange New Jersey Magazine (?????) and the way it is disassembled. 3) You only get one magazine. It also comes in a cardboard Happy Meal box with a cheap little zip up bag that is useless. But the price is right and all of those things don't matter when you consider it is reliable and has a sweet trigger.

I went from LC9 to LC9s and am thrilled.  Night and day.  I really couldn't shoot the hammer fired gun even acceptably well.  I mean no matter how much I practiced, even dry firing with a laser, I would shoot 2 feet low at 10 yards.  No problem hitting bulls-eyes with the 9S.

I bought an LC9 not long after they first came out and it never grew on me and I hated the trigger, I ended up selling it.

I was recently at my LGS and had to check the new "s" out, much improved trigger but something else caught my eye. The Bersa BP9cc. I would say the trigger is even better than the LC9s and it also fit me better. The corners are not as smooth but the feel and range time was awesome (WWB). I'm very pleased with it. Haven't ran hollow points through it yet.

The one I bought was used and came with one extra mag. From what I understand a new purchase comes with 2 mags, a plastic box and priced less than the Ruger.

I did check on finding another mag for the Bersa, at $48ea   and holsters aren't as common compared to the Ruger plus the mags are only $29. but I like it.

Thanks for the RR. The lc9s is on my short list with a M&P Shield and a Glock 26. I have be able to shoot the S&W and the Glock but only dry fire on the Ruger.

Same here had the G19 and it was just to big for me during the summer and since I want only one gun for all the time to carry it will be between these three.
