Post 1000. A Milestone for Me.

Recommended Posts

I have been using the internet since 1992.  I had email before most people knew it existed, or could access it.  (Remember that, back when it was called "e-mail"?)  Before the World Wide Web even existed (I think).

From the beginning, I started reading one of the first gun forums, rec.guns, on Usenet.  I posted occasionally, but not all that much.  Then came, AR15.com, which has become such a behemoth that I rarely check it anymore.

Probably the most I have ever posted on any other gun forum was on 65grendel.com.  But adding up all the posts I have ever made on any and all internet forums in the last 22 years, they would not add up to anywhere near the amount of bandwidth I have used on tngunowners.com.

So, congratulations to TGO for being more worthwhile to me than any other internet resource and thanks to TGO for the same thing.

Sincerely,

Will

:no1: 000 Congrats on the milestone!

You mentioned 65grendelforums.com. I've tried to get on there every since the orders went in for the TGO receivers last year and I decided that I was going to build one. I've had some other things come up that i'd like to go ahead and get so now i'd really like to get on there and list the parts I have for sale but I have messaged everyone I could on there but never have gotten anyone to instate my registration... My point is the congrats might be more warranted for the fact that you were actually able to get registered on that forum!

I'm just not a talker, I guess. :)

You'd think after using the internets for 22 years, I'd have a higher post count. <shrug>

Some would opine that high post counts on internet forums are a substitute for a real life. I wouldn't know, of course.

That's interesting.  I don't remember needing to be approved.  Maybe try again.  That site isn't nearly as active as this one, they should want as much traffic as possible.

Just to be sure...  this link http://www.65grendel.com/forum/ goes straight to the forum.

After the great site hack in... ummm....  2010 or 2011, it took over a year to bring it back online.  I only made a few posts after it was back online.  Things may have changed.

Yep, when you "register" your email address and user name just like you would here at TGO it has to be approved. The registration will go through but in order to make post they have to finalize the registration which is what i'm referring to as "approving". I have tried registering with 3 different email addresses over a 3-4 month period as well as emailing a few or the admin and never received any response nor approval. I finally just gave up. Mike Gideon had the same issue I think but eventually was able to get through somehow but I'm not sure what he had to do. I completely agree though, any forum with such specific subject matter needs to have everyone possible visiting but I guess whomever is over the forum isn't to worried about it. Like I said, I gave up on even trying to get on there but now I'm trying to get rid of some specific parts and would like to list them on that specific forum but have had zero luck.

Wow.  You're right.  I just tried to log in with my old ID and password.  Didn't work.  Now I'm trying to re-register.  We'll see how that works out.

I'm cornfused.  Makes no sense.

Haven't heard anything yet.  But I found this thread.  http://www.65grendel.com/forum/showthread.php?9021-If-Your-Account-Is-Screwed-Up-.-.-.

Looks like they've been having problems with spammers/hackers again so he went through and cleaned out a bunch of inactive accounts (including mine) and even some active ones.

I guess just keep trying.  I'm going to.
