Pistol Powder is harder to find than 22lr!

Just got my Dillon RL550B Friday, but it's not doing anything because there's absolutely no pistol powder in all of East Tennessee!   On the plus side, I got 500 rounds of 22lr for $32 at Mahoney's in JC

All powder is a challenge these days.

 

I've had rifle powder (for 5.56) on backorder since Dec 2013....

 

David or Sam may well be able to help you though.

What I am seeing, via Slickguns search tool, are surplus powders for rifle and pistol. I am tempted to try the surplus rifle myself.

It may not be close enough for you, but im fairly certain that Anthony's Armory in Red Bank will have some, its a small shop but he usually has a decent selection of powder.

I have some Goex ffg black powder, and some Triple 7 BP substitute, but I have no smokeless powders at all.   I'm brand new to reloading, but I've done quite a bit of research...    but I haven't narrowed down a particular powder that I want to use because nothing is available to get in my area....    The black powder and substitute is for reloading for an original Springfield Trapdoor from 1884.   I've casted 405 gr lead bullets, and I was planning on using my Dillon 550B to reload them, but then I read that you're not to use black powder in Dillon's powder measurer due to static electricy.....   But I didn't know if Triple 7 would create too much pressure for it being an old trapdoor....   Their site suggests 60 grain load, but they don't tell what pressures it would exert....   And I don't know what other powders to use for 45-70, except maybe TrailBoss, which I can't find....   So I may be purchasing a Hornady black powder powder measurer, if it will work with the Dillon 550B (which I think it will)     So after all that rambling, what should I do?

Also, I plan on casting 125 gr and 158 gr bullets for the .357 magnum loads and I'll probably use store bought stuff for 9mm and 30-06

If you are going to cast I would look at powder coating the bullets. Makes the alloy less critical. Powder coated bullets run cleaner than plain cast or jacketed. You can push them as hard as jacketed in most calibers, definitely in 357 magnum, and the best part is you can color coordinate your bullets to what you are wearing that day.

Haven't seen any Accurate #7 in 18 months.  No 2230 either.

We've had Unique on backorder for several months as well.

 

It seems that when any pistol, or rifle, powder comes in, it goes out just a bit faster than immediately.

It's very frustrating my friend. I had Graf's drop several backorders on me this past year...such is life...but my memory is long...

 

The positive side is that I've developed handgun loads with powders I had never even considered using it the past.

My chronograph has paid for itself several times over this past year. LOL
