I'm like the one guy...when I was watching it live, it didn't look that bad, but watching in slo-mo over and over...almost no doubt the umpire laid into him.

I saw it live too, thought the same thing, that he just put up his forearm to protect his head, but after seeing the slomo, he looks as if he stepped forward, with the forearm up an laid a hit on him..

Heard on Mike and Mike this morning that the ref used to play linebacker back in the day.

I think he had a flashback, I mean the man stepped INTO the player, and threw a flipper...

He probably was acting on some sort of repressed instinct.

Didn't the same official get in the middle of a play earlier in the game?

I mean I know they have to be close to see everything...and that does mean being too close sometimes....but twice in the same game, by the same guy?

Yes he was in the middle of another play earlier. Also against the Gamecocks.

I am huge South Carolina fan after going to school there. The neighbors stated they heard me next door after that play.
