where to buy a crush washer?

Recommended Posts

My last part (linear compensator) of my AR build came in today. I didn't have the forethought to buy a crush washer with it. So, now I can't go shoot it tomorrow unless I find a place to buy one in the middle TN area.

Anyone have any suggestions?

you can shoot it without.

Yeah, won't hurt anything. Does your compensator have to be aligned to certain orientation? That's really what a crush washer allows, but I don't think most of the linear ones matter?

Which gun stores are close to you? I would think most would have them in stock, especially if they have a gunsmith working out of there.

Not many seem to have a gunsmith in the shop nowadays, but that's a good idea. I may have to resort to calling around tomorrow morning to see if any have one. That doesn't seem like the kind of part that would be hanging on a display rack in the store somewhere.

Everything weapons in Cool Springs had about every AR "small part" you could think of the time I went in there. You could buy any piece of an LPK or BCG that you needed so I would think that they would have a crush washer. I'm almost certain that I have a few spares and would be happy to give you one. The only catch is whether they are .22 or .30 cal washers. Let me know if you can't find anything close by and i'll check to see what I have.

One wouldn't think so, but I assumed the same about two LGSs and each were able to produce emergency build parts when I called them. I've been in that situation twice where I had one or two little things I needed that they had in stock.

I bought a A2 5-6 years ago with no crush washer, and the bird cage was just wrong in its orientation.  I believe I had a slight challenge, and that I purchased 2 or 3 crushed washers before finding the right one.  I was not an expert, and I am one that sometimes doesn't like to ask questions.  I finally found one from a internet site that had many different ones in stock.  They are cheap, but shipping was high.

Awesome, that's right over by my work too. Thanks Luke.

Last time I bought some I bought them off of eBay.

I know this sounds juvenile, but I've been collecting parts for this build for a couple of months now and having to wait another week to shoot it over a damn $4 part is making me crazy!

I want to shoot it NOW!! LOL Edited by BigK

Oh and these gentlemen are correct, I don't use one on either if mine.

Think I have one I ordered by accident (didn't realize the part came with one) but I'm a fair way away from LaVergne

Yeah, I needed one because the muzzle device I picked is a 2 piece. With the shroud on it acts like a linear compensator. When it's off, it acts like a muzzle break. Without a crush washer the muzzle break was mis-timed by about 45 degrees past side-to-side.

I'm about to post pics on the other thread in a few minutes.

I didn't like paying $6 for a no-name crush washer when they are < $3 from Bravo Company, but being impatient has a price.

I doubt there is a bit of difference between a no name crush washer and a BCM crush washer.. I'm glad you were able to find one though. Did you make it out to shoot your new rifle? How did you like it?

After all that, I didn't even get to shoot it today. And to add insult to injury, the reason was that my wife dragged me to freakin Walmart. It was too late by the time I got home.
