Where to buy an antenna tower?

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a place in Middle TN that sells towers for CB and Ham radio. I would like to buy a 40-50' free standing type. Is there anywhere around Nashville that makes these?

My tower guy can guide you. He does most of the work on my big towers, but deals with the small ones too. True free standing is expensive, but 50 feet isn't much height. Anyway, he will keep you out of trouble, and tell you where to get the stuff if you can get him to mess with it.

That’s quite a deal if it’s any good. Rohn tower goes for over $100 per 10’ section new and used will bring half that easy. Also look at some of the HAM or CB sites like eham.net.

If you are going with Rohn R series, go ahead and do Rohn-45.  You will thank yourself in the future.

easier to climb, work on, work with, and holds more with less guys.

Used 45 is much around same price range as new -25.

Buy it used - ~100/ straight section.  You can have it re-galvanized pretty cheaply.  I did ~120' in Nashville.

stay away from the HDBX stuff, for a multitude of reasons, (I speak as a current owner of all three types -25, -45, and HDBX)

DO NOT, DO NOT re-galvanize HDBX as it has aluminum rivets!  They dissolve in pickling brine.

BTW - if you want a major HF antenna, I have one for sale.  Force-12 C4-SXL (4 bands / shorty-40)
